May Day Immigration Reform Protest, Police Brutality

We went to the protest with an open mind, hoping to show our support for Immigration reform, and present the goings-on to the world. What we found when we got there is that “the state” has no interest in allowing peaceful protests. They want to keep anyone protesting in a paralyzed state of fear. Scared is definitely one emotion I felt. Some people (people in this country, people in Iraq) go through much, much worse than this on a hourly basis. But for a Jew from a small town in Vermont, this experience was enough to reaffirm what I already knew: Things Must Change.
